FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the dress code during the Convention Business Session?
A. District Officers tend to wear jacket and tie/scarf with smart slacks/skirt but many just wear casual clothing.

Q. How will I know what is going on?
A. You will receive a delegate bag on registration that is full of useful information including a 'map' to guide you to the function rooms. We plan to have buddies to help you get the most out of Convention - you'll make a lot of new buddies whilst there, too!

Q. What will I get out of the weekend?
A. Apart from the fun and friendship of meeting with other Lions, there will be a packed programme of presentations, including a New Lions Orientation session which will be very useful to newer Lions.

Q. Why should I go, my club doesn't attend Convention?
A. Be the first! Come along and if you cannot persuade others to come, go back and tell them what they missed!

Q. I don't like Fancy Dress! Must I dress up?
A. No, dress is optional on the Friday Host Night. The theme is "Special Olympics", which is wide open to interpretation so if you do decide to 'dress-up' you could wear anything from track-wear (shorts and vest) to your Lycra cycling gear!

Q. Is there a dress code for the Banquet and Ball?
A. Yes, Black Tie but there is a theme - 'Centennial Convention' so ladies, let's see you sparkle!

Q. Why do you ask if this is my first Convention?
A. The District Governor welcomes all "First Timers" and their partners to a drinks reception prior to the Banquet & Ball. Your name badge will identify you, and the Host Committee will make every effort to ensure that you have a great Convention.
